Lawrie and Symington Ltd sold 11 Dairy Cattle, 41 Prime Cattle, 49 Cast Cows, 24 Calves and 525 Prime and Cast Sheep at their weekly Sale.
Dairy Cattle - The Sale was Topped at £2,000 for a Hol Heifer from Messrs J Watson & Son, Westtown Farm, Stonehouse. Heifers in milk; Westtown (Hol) £2,000, South Lanridge £1,400 & £1,280. Cows in milk; Dykehead (Hol) £1,680 & £1,650, Silverrigg £1,520, The Hill £1,520.
Prime Cattle - Prime Cattle sold to 198p per kg for a 520kg Limousin Heifer from Messrs G Clark & Co, Wellhead Farm, Livingston and was purchased by MR H Morgan, South Medrox, Glenboig. Prime Cattle Sold to averaged 169.4p per kg (+ 24p per kg on the week.) Limousin Bullocks - Wester Walston 171p, West Dykes 167p, Carwood 165p, British Blue - Walkerdyke 197p & 171p, Biggarshiels Mains 168p, Hf - Silverrigg 129p. Beef Cows (30) averaged 124p per kg (+ 14p on the week) and sold to 153p, for a 665kg Limousin X Cow from Messrs Hamilton, MidShawtonhill Farm, Chapelton or £1045, Messrs Smith, North Boig Farm, New Cumnock. Dairy Cows (19) averaged 95p per kg (+ 6p on the week) and sold to 111p for a 710kg Hf Cow from Messrs Watson, Westtown Farm, Stonehouse or £835, Messrs Hamilton, Boghall Farm, Cleghorn.
